홈디포는 미국 홈인테리어 그리고 건축자재를 판매하는 기업입니다.

해당 분야에서 너무나 유명한 기업이에요. 대형 창고형 마트라고 생각하시면 됩니다. 그곳에서 망치도 팔고 드릴도 팝니다. 그리고 합판도 판매해요. 내가 구입한 합판은 필요에 맞게 잘라주기도 합니다. 페인트도 있어요. 원하는 색깔을 조합해주기도 합니다.
(It's a hugely popular company in that industry. Think of it as a large warehouse-style store. They sell everything from hammers to drills, and they even sell lumber. They will cut the lumber to the size you need. They also have paint and can mix the colors you want.)

초대형 철물점이라고 봐도 돼요.

(You could even see it as a gigantic hardware store.)


건축 인테리어 등 관련된 공구들을 모두 다 판매한다! 이렇게 생각하면 될 것 같습니다.
(They sell all kinds of tools related to construction, interior design, and so on! You can think of it that way.)


도배장판도 판매합니다. 벽지도 판매하고요. 페인트 칠할 때 필요한 도구들도 판매해요. 다양한 전구들 또한 홈디포에서 찾을 수 있습니다. 절단기구라든지 톱도 팔아요. 잔디 관리하는데 필요한 도구 또한 판매합니다. 엄청나죠? 드왈트 밀워키 등등도 홈디포에 있습니다.
(We also sell wallpaper and wall panels. We offer tools needed for painting as well. You can find various light bulbs at Home Depot. We sell cutting tools like saws, and even tools for lawn maintenance. Isn't it amazing? We also have brands like DeWalt and Milwaukee at Home Depot.)

한마디로 집을 짓고 인테리어하고 집 수리 개조하는 모든 제품들을 판매한다고 보면 됩니다.

저 혼자만의 생각일 수도 있는데요. 집 또는 건축물의 시작에서부터 유지 수리 보수 그리고 최종 철거까지에 필요한 모든 제품들을 홈디포에서 판매하고 있다! 이렇게 생각해도 될 정도예요. 가게 규모는 정말크고 없은 물건이 없습니다.
(That may just be my personal opinion, but it seems like Home Depot sells everything you need from the beginning of building or designing a home or building to its maintenance, repair, and even demolition. It's safe to say that the store is massive and there's hardly anything they don't have.)

어찌보면 미국 문화를 보여주는구나. 미국의 건축/홈인테리어 문화를 보여주는구나를 생각했어요.

(It shows the culture of the United States in a way. I thought it shows the culture of American architecture/home interior.)


미국은 땅이 워낙 넓기도하고 인건비가 높습니다. 그래서 집에 자질구레한 수리해야할 일들은 직접 하는 문화인데요. 사람 부르면 돈이 너무 많이 나가니까요. 영화 보면 집에 뭐가 고장나거나 수리해야할 때 아빠들이 공구들고와서 뚝딱뚝딱 고치잖아요. 이 문화가 미국 전반적으로 정착해있습니다. 그래서 홈디포 같은 기업이 만들어지고 성장할 수 있는거죠.

홈디포는 남자들의 상징 그리고 로망같은 곳이라고도 합니다. 물론 사람마다 차이가 있겠지만 여성분들은 화장품가게 가는걸 좋아한다면 남자분들은 홈디포 같은 가게 가는걸 좋아하죠. 여기서 날카롭고 강력한 공구들을 보면서 설레하는 것입니다.
(Home Depot is often seen as a symbol and a kind of romantic place for men. Of course, there may be individual differences, but while women enjoy going to cosmetics stores, men enjoy going to stores like Home Depot. It's exciting to see sharp and powerful tools here.)


홈디포는 빠르게 성장했습니다. 그리고 앞으로도 성장할 것이라고 저는 생각합니다. 홈디포가 미국 집 문화라고 생각합니다. 집을 새로 지을 때에도 홈디포에서 공구를 사면 됩니다. 그라고 집을 수리할 때에도 홈디포에서 공구를 사게됩니다.
(Home Depot has grown rapidly and I believe it will continue to grow in the future. I think Home Depot represents American home culture. When building a new house, you can buy tools at Home Depot. And when repairing a house, you also end up buying tools at Home Depot.)


내 집이 깔끔해지고 고급스러워지는 모습을 보면서 그리고 그걸 직접 하면서 소비자들은 행복감을 느끼고 성취감을 느낍니다. 그리고 그 과정에는 홈디포가 있는거죠. 해당 분야에서 압도적인 브랜드파워가 있는 기업입니다. 미국에 더이상 주택이 없어지는게 아니라면 홈디포는 영원히 미국인들과 함께할 것 같습니다.
(As consumers see their homes becoming cleaner and more upscale, and they themselves take part in the process, they feel a sense of happiness and accomplishment. Home Depot is there every step of the way, and is an overwhelmingly powerful brand in this field. Unless the US runs out of houses to build or maintain, it seems that Home Depot will be with Americans forever.)


그래서 저는 계속해서 꾸준히 홈디포의 주식을 사모아가고 있습니다. 최근에 경기침체 등의 이슈로 인해서 홈디포 주가가 떨어졌는데요. 이때가 기회라고 생각하고 열심히 모아가고 았어요
(So, I've been steadily accumulating Home Depot's stock. Recently, due to issues such as an economic slowdown, the stock price has fallen. But I see this as an opportunity and have been working hard to collect more.)
